No! Tutors are provided the suggested opportunity of where the parent or Bright Stars Management prefer to provide lessons, i.e., online, in-person home (and generally where) or both, on sign-up and can change these details at any time through their tutor portal on Bright Stars Tutoring Centre.

Bright Stars Tutoring Centre is a community platform that has been built to help parent and students find quality tutors to achieve their children’s or their goals. To achieve this, every tutor on Bright Stars Tutoring Centre has a unique public profile that outlines information about you, including your:

• Background, experience, and qualifications.
• Subjects you tutor.
• Availability and mode of tutoring.
• Hourly rates.
• Tutor tier.
• Rating & reviews.

Prospective students and parents find tutors by searching on Bright Stars Tutoring Centre and can review your profile to get to know you and to see if you’re the right fit for them. The more information you include, the more likely a prospective student will reach out to you.

You will be prompted to create your online profile when signing up to Bright Stars Tutoring Centre and can update or amend it at any time through your tutor portal.

Talking to students

Bright Stars Tutoring Centre has built its platform to make it easy for students and tutors to connect and manage their tutoring engagement. All out-of-lesson contact with students takes place through Bright Stars Tutoring messaging tool.

Tutors can view their messages and message students through their tutor portal when logged in to Bright Stars Tutoring Centre Website Portal and receive notifications whenever there is a new student enquiry or message from a student.

Scheduling lessons

Similar to messaging, tutors schedule lessons through their calendar on Bright Stars Tutoring Centre, which provides a full record of lessons completed, future lessons and which automatically takes care of order payments for lessons.

To schedule lessons, click on the ‘Help Center’ in the bottom navigation bar. Then click ‘Add Lessons’ and fill in the relevant details such as time, date of the lesson, fee, lesson notes and any lesson feedback to parents.

Rather than imposing set hourly rates on tutors, it will depend on the package tutors choose and subjects tutoring with hours tutoring, so Bright Stars Tutoring Centre will decide the rates.

A tutor's hourly rate is displayed on their Bright Stars Tutoring Centre Member Plan Page so prospective students know how much Bright Stars Tutoring Centre charge before reaching out to discuss tutoring. Whether a tutor has set the right hourly rate will likely be determined by the level of interest you receive for tutoring. If it's too high, for instance, you may receive few, if any, enquiries or will have few repeat students. If it's too low, the opposite will likely be true.

Tutors are paid a month for each lessons made and are paid the rate for a lesson and Bright Stars Tutoring Centre’s will take its commission and of any payment processing fees.

Bright Stars Tutoring Centre is a cashless community. When tutors are approved as a tutor on BS Tutoring Centre, they will be prompted to provide their banking details account to Management to receive payments monthly.

After a lesson has been completed, students are charged for a lesson and the amount owing to the tutor will be transferred within month-to-month basis (largely depending on which how many lesson tutor provided).

Being a tutor on Bright Stars Tutoring Centre means you decide how many hours you want to work. Whether that’s taking on a single student for an hour a week or multiple students more intensively.

It is generally expected that tutors who commit to BS Tutoring Centre are available at least 3-6 hours per week and have a flexible schedule. We discourage tutors from using BS Tutoring Centre if you have an inflexible or limited schedule as this will make for a poor experience for prospective students trying to find a tutor.

Tutors should ensure they are flexible and reasonably available should students require any additional support, particularly in the build up to and around relevant assessment times. You can manage your ongoing availability through your account on BS Tutoring Centre.

Tutors and coaches are available online all over South Africa and in-person we only specialising within certain areas part of Pretoria and Johannesburg depending of charges. Unless whether you’re in a metropolitan CBD or living in a remote location, and we have someone leaving around your area, then BS Tutoring Centre will cater the service.

Tutors choose where and how they tutor - some will tutor online and in-person and some may only do one or the other. You can use BS Tutoring Centre’s Become A Tutor to see if there are tutors near you.

The availability of in-person tutoring will depend on your location and particular need. As tutors have spent the last few years learning and teaching online, we're confident they have mastered teaching online and can be just as effective as if they were in-person.

There are over 110 subjects currently taught by tutors and coaches on BS Tutoring Centre. The subject range includes tutoring for children aged anywhere between Foundation Phase Grade 0 – 12, to anyone looking to learn an instrument, language or skills or a professional looking for business and life coaching.

Bright Stars Tutoring Centre is a cashless platform.

To have lessons with a tutor, users need to join Bright Stars Tutoring Centre and have a valid payment method. You will be prompted on sign-up to see our Banking Details and make transfer to our account with valid reference which is name and surname of a child. As per our Terms & Conditions, we only accept bank transfers and credit card payment.

Invoice Payments. 

Invoice will be send regularly towards month end for month lessons with a due date of payment.

Privacy & Security

BS Tutoring Centre uses Standard Bank, one of the most trusted payment providers, to process and securely and privately store payment information. BS Tutoring Centre does not store or have any visibility over your payment information.
